Getting the Band Back Together

It's been 30 years since the Avengers that everyone knows, the time of Jacob Starks Avengers has long since past and that time has more of a place in the Museum of Heroics than it does in our modern society. The Avengers initiative has been shut down for a short few years, it had undergone various member changes in its 30-year span, with only a single hero remaining for its entirety. But soon, S.H.I.E.L.D would have to launch the Avengers Initiative again with a whole new team if the earth wants any hope of surviving the coming catastrophes.

But enough of that foreshadowing, in the present day, in the streets of New York City, a superpowered man had escaped government custody in a small lab and ignited an explosion to escape the lab itself. S.H.I.E.L.D had noticed what would happen and tried to launch of preventive measure by activating an old robot they had locked away for just this purpose, Theta-768 who was on "her" way to stop this man. Before "she" could arrive, however, the man ignited a chemical explosion to escape the lab, freeing himself and being let loose onto the civilians in New York. insight of the explosion was David Blackstone, who had been just trying to cross the street when he saw a large flash of light from the explosion and a man emerge. Chris Connors had been training in a nearby warehouse when he could hear a loud eruption echo through the warehouse's walls and even further away, blocks away, was Brett Reilly who had trying to sleep in his small apartment when his spider senses went off and he became aware of the upcoming danger.

David had just enough time to shield himself from the explosion, spirits having told him that it was coming mere moments before the blast itself. "Shit!" He felt his hair being singed as the explosion went off. He saw the man running but didn't immediately go after him. Instead; he prepared a water spell and went to work putting out the fires. "Thomas!" He yelled and a ghost in civil war garb came through. "Go after him and keep tabs on him! I'll catch up once I'm sure that no one is hurt!" The ghost nodded gravely and faded away; chasing the man. "Gotta love America..." He said as he tried to put out the fire as best he could.

Chris Connors felt the vibrations in the ground and heard the explosion, he couldn't help but feel excited. Chris loved action and he hadn't experienced it in so long, he ran as fast as he could toward the blast. Only hoping this wasn't the one time where he was in over his head.

The man was large, over seven feet and had muscles from head to toe that seemed to be growing larger. The more odd part about his appearance is his age, he looked to be in his seventies, he was bald and had a white beard. He grabbed a civilian that was running by the leg and threw him in Chris's direction coincidentally.

The fire quickly became extinguished but the area was not safe to be near due to the chemicals from the lab, which was apparent from the fact that certain liquids in the lab were burning the floor they touched just on contact.

Brett jumped out of his bed, landing on floor in a crouched position. He quickly got suited up into his miles morales-esque spidey suit. Within a few minuted of swinging and grappling he arrived at the scene, scouting out the building and locating the giant that caused the explosion.

"Okay, well that was surprisingly easy." David jumped into the air; setting himself up to fly, but instead ended up face down on the asphalt. "Looks like I'm walking." He said muffled by the ground. He stood and quickly began chasing down the man on foot. "Thomas!' He yelled and the ghost in civil war garb returned. "Where is he?!" The ghost pointed in the direction he was already going. "Rest in peace!" The ghost disappeared, and David summoned up pieces of earth to throw at the man; mainly dirt clods with rocks in the middle, but small chunks of asphalt came up with it as well.

The pieces of dirt broke on contact but got the giants attention, the giant started to charge at David, his hands open like claws ready to grab David. Brett could see all this happening from above but Chris couldn't completely make out what was happening as the crowd ran his way, blocking his view

Chris dove to catch the civilian landing on his back to shield the man. He winced in pain for a  moment, he wasn't used to going so fast in a long time. He let the man go and stood up in front of the giant. He saw another man fighting the giant which reassured him as he ran up to hop in the fight

The giant didn't notice Chris as his attention was fully on David for that brief moment

"Well... Bury me in blue!" David yelled before turning tail and running. As he ran; a magic circle formed around his entire body before David's body imploded in on itself and he reappeared on a rooftop very near the action. He noticed that in the teleport; he had lost a shoe. "Lovely..." He said before casting the water spell at the giant elderly person once again.

Brett swung into the battle, feet planting directly into the left side of his head at full speed, knocking the giant down and rolling off to the side to regain himself.

When the giant fell down, he narrowly dodged the water and it struck Brett, throwing him to the ground, when the giant rolled over, he noticed Chris charging at him and tried to reach for him

Chris side stepped going full speed which sent him off balance barely dodging the giant. He felt confident and was about to jump but slipped in some water that had trickled near him. He slid into a wall rolling his eyes at Brett and David.

After recovering from the water, Brett swung around the area, perching on a lightpost and waiting for the giant to make a move again.

The giant picked himself back up and seemed to be even larger than before, he grabbed Chris and threw him at David before walking towards Brett with clenched fists. If the heroes paid close attention, they'd see the man was growing as the fight went on

Theta-768 finally arrives on site only to be greeted with four figures already engaged in combat. Though unsure of which being is the escapee her right arm collapses in on itself and reforms again as a shared blade, and she assumes the one the other three are attacking is her target and hopes for the best. She leaps into action taking a swipe at the bearded man's legs.

David's eyes widened as Volt came flying at him. He summoned up a shield to catch Volt mere inches from David's face. "You good?" He asked him before staring at the giant. "Hoo boy..." He muttered. He concentrated on summoning a pair of shadow clones, ending up with a pair of legs and a floating cloned torso of himself. "For gods sake..." He swore and shoved them off the building before levitating himself and Volt down safely. A slight nosebleed began trickling from his face as he concentrated. "I can do this... It's just a bit more energy."

The giant gets caught off guard by Theta-768's presence and gets a cut across the chest, it would be a fatal cut on a normal person but the width gained from all the muscles means the deep cut just isn't deep enough. After the slash, he launches his fist at Theta, attempting to send her flying back into the lightpost that Brett rested on

Theta-768 flies back into the lightpost upon receiving the blow, the pole crashes to the ground with Theta-768 as she lands she rolls into a kneeling position analyzing and calculating a detailed plan of attack. Trying a different tactic she leaps again towards the giant, aiming to jab straight into his abdomen.

"I have an idea that might actually go horribly wrong." Said David to Volt as he summoned up another Magic circle and from it, came an extremely sticky sap-like substance. The green goo flew at the speed of a fire hose and encased the giants legs and the ground around them.

"Good one" He applauded to David. He ran full sprint and jumped to kick the giants chest with both of his legs.

The goo trapped the giant and made it all the easier for Theta to stab the giant as he couldn't dodge. The blade pierced his abdomen but the giant quickly grabbed onto the blade with both hands, cutting both of his hands but stopping the blade from going cleanly through. Chris's kick knocked the giant back and the goo slowly allowed the giant to be held down with his back pressed against the street, trapped

"Time to take you in," Theta states in a monotone voice. Her sword arm shifts into a large club as she walks towards his head, winding up for a blow to knock him unconscious.

Brett moved just in time to avoid the crash, due to his spidey sense. He swung into action and joined the others in attacking the giant.
